Cuil - Google AdWords Killer?
Big news in the Search Engine field (which inevitably affects Google AdWords). Ex-Google engineer Anna Patterson was one of the chief engineers who invented Google’s core search engine algorithm. She is about to release her latest technology which she intends to use to upstage Google.
The new technology is called Cucil and it’s purpose is to index more webpages than Google. It’s only a matter of time before Cucil starts their own pay per click program. How their ppc algorithm differs from Google’s remains to be seen.
At the moment, Cuil claims to have the most number of pages “indexed” (stored in its database). At the moment of this writing, it has over 120 billion web pages indexed - more than any other search engines. It went live on July 28th, 2008.
One of its neat features is that it displays cliparts of the search results.
However, not all is well over in Cuil land… Folks are criticizing that Cuil focuses too much on “quantity” and not “quality”. And as a result of its “false” focus, its search results are often “inaccurate” and takes way too long to return the results. Even if the search was a typo.
Like I said though, I imagine it’s only a matter of time before it has its own pay per click program. And perhaps by then I’ll come out with a version of “adwords tutorial” for Cuil. We’ll see.
Let’s see if Cuil survives and tries to topple the Google Search engine
